WE, THE FORTRESS

A Healing Journey from
Dissociative Identity Disorder

About Book

One body… many minds. This strange set of circumstances is at the heart of this mental health book, which explores the unique journey of “The Fortress”—a self-designated group of personalities or “alters” that share the physical body of a woman diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder). This women’s health book provides an insightful and compassionate perspective on the challenges and triumphs faced by those living with this condition.

About Author

Dr. Christine Traxler is a Minnesota-based writer, author, and practicing physician currently residing in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. While the book is authored under her name, it was truly a collaborative effort by “The Fortress”—a ragtag collection of children, teens, and adults inhabiting a single physical body. After years of dealing with the complexities of dissociative identity disorder, Dr. Traxler and the rest of The Fortress offer their insights on their years.
